It’s small, but perfectly formed. If you are looking for a place for a good cup of tea and a light meal, with sea views, you could look a long time to better this splendid venue. Outside, when the weather is suitable, is a truly spectacular view of the western Solent. If you go later in the day, the evening sunset is one of the wonders of the Isle of Wight. They do sometimes open in the evenings and this is worth the visit. The food is also fresh, and tasty. Coffee and cream teas and the like, as one might expect, are the staple fare and are well done. Normally open in the summer months only, on bank holidays and high summer days the place is packed with those seeking ice creams (some very nice New Forest Ice Cream is on offer), but a little patience will get you a decent lunch in the most delightful surroundings.

Disclosure: Matt’s day job sometimes involves working at Fort Victoria and he has some responsibility for managing the overall facility, but not the cafe which is leased separately to another party.
