I noticed this thread about Festival food on the Isle of Wight Festival forum - shows how subjective it all is, with people raving about everything from noodles, to steak baguettes, to goat curry:
Thanks for the feedback, Tracy. And thanks for the clarification Lian. It does sound like Ian was served a kebab instead of a burger. (I too am keen to support local food and for it to have a prominent presence at the Festival, as you can probably tell from the review.)

What was the food like in the camping area? Anyone know? I read somewhere that there was a Bistro.
As much as we love to eat the local food (and we do, often!) We decided to try 'The Phillipino Food Village'.....a fine result. We ate there for all four nights of the festival, because of this.
I'm a stickler for lean meat, I had the beef noodles three times and found not a bit of meat that had nasty bits!
Also a huge spring roll for £1.50, mild or explosive chilli sauce to accompany, bargain of the Festy?

Ian's burger was a lamb kebab wrap, I know this because I served a lot of the over the weekend. And if Ian is the person who returned his kebab because it was unwrapped - ?! - he was extremely abusive to the very nice gentleman who had given up his entire weekend to support the local food cause.

I avoided the usual stuff from previous years and noticed tucked away a Morrocan stall, being a bit partial to North African Food, I gave it a try (several times) the menu was not huge with just 4 items to choose from, but the flavours where fantastic and portion size great for £5.

As a light snack I tired a bacon bap from 3 different places...all failed to impress. They either need smaller baps or more bacon ( properly cooked)

The only real must for me at the festival is Carribean food..and with the BBQ well and truly smoking out the field Saturday Evening and a raving hunger, I chose Ackee with Saltfish (bit bland and unadventurous, but nicely spiced up with additional WI sauce) and the obligitory Jerk chicken which was great (having lived in Brixton develepoed a bit of a habit for jerk chicken)

I agree with your gripe about fairgound ride music, Helen. It's a music festival. You don't need that extra cacophony.

PS: The banana milkshake in the pic above was Ian's and I forgot to mention it in the review. He tells me it was fab, made with real bananas and ice-cream. There's also a wooden fork in the pic which we picked up not realising till later that the Hurly Burly also had metal cutlery.
