Balti King, Wootton

Gold Star
One of
Matt and Cat's
favourites

A wayside Indian takeaway on the main road between Ryde and Newport, this place provides good food, and is usually reasonably quick. What's more, if you go and pick it up yourself as opposed to getting it delivered, you can have a free side dish for orders over £15. The food is very good; better, in fact, than some sit-down restaurants. Taken from a standard menu of Indian cuisine staples, the generous portions stay piping hot long enough to make this quality take-away worth the journey. This is the best Indian take-away that Matt and Cat have yet sampled.

There's no option to eat in, but if you're looking for a takeaway you will not go wrong here. It also has convenient parking, usually right outside.

It's not sophisticated and it's not big, but it is consistently good food and courteous service. Matt and Cat recommend it.

Fabulous meal! Lived in Malaysia for a couple of years where we experienced some amazing cuisine. Have always been disappointed by the standards in Indian cuisine since we returned but this is the best we've tasted. Have been raving to our friends about this one so thanks for the recommendation!

I would like to echo Matt and Cat's sentiments. Great food, courteously presented. We shall be eating here again.

Definately recommend this place! Went there once and now keep going back! Perfect on a Friday night with a group of mates and it won't dent your bank balance! Reasonably priced, good choice on the menu and genuinely tasty food. I'm partial to the odd chicken Korma - not a fan of the spicy stuff - but I hear from friends that the spicy dishes are good too. The service is pretty quick and the staff are friendly. We often opt to go and pick up the food ourselves to take advantage of the free side dish offer they give out! Overall very very good and well worth the money.

Balti King is like the best indian takeaway ever

Matt and Cat respond: yes, we think so too. It's exactly like it.

I have been using Balti King regularly for some time and it is always very good. The menu has dishes from most regions of the Indian sub-continent so there is something for everyone no matter what your taste in curry. The chef is also always happy to make the dish a bit more spicey if you prefer - you only have to ask when ordering. The friendly and very efficient service of the delivery driver also means that the food always arrives hot. The good sized portions are reasonably priced so it is very good value for money as well. My favourite main dishes are Chicken Dansak and Lamb Rogan Josh. This take-away is well worth trying.

Hmm, the comments here surprise me. I have been using the Balti King for 2/3 years now and find it to be very hit-and-miss. The first couple of times I tried them it was the best curry I had tried in ages AND they deliver into Ryde which was a real bonus. However, for a while it has seemed as though it depends on who was working in the kitchen on any given day! We have had alternating great and poor takeaways up until recently where the last couple have been great. I don't know if they've sorted themselves out or if we've just been unlucky. On the fence though on this place!
